Retraction & Correction

SATUKATA: Jurnal Sains, Teknik, dan Studi Kemasyarakatan (Journal of Science, Engineering, and Society) is committed to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the research it publishes. In cases where errors or issues are identified in published articles, the journal follows a strict Retraction & Correction Policy to address these issues transparently and ethically.

1. Correction of Errors

Corrections may be made to published articles when there are factual errors, typographical mistakes, or other issues that do not affect the overall validity or integrity of the research. These can include:

  • Minor errors such as typographical or grammatical mistakes that do not impact the data, analysis, or conclusions of the paper.

  • Correcting references when cited works are missing or inaccurately referenced.

Procedure for Correction:

  • Authors who notice errors in their published articles should notify the editorial office immediately with a clear explanation of the issue.

  • After the issue is confirmed, the journal will issue a Correction Notice, which will be linked to the original article. The notice will explain the error and how it has been addressed.

2. Retraction of Articles

A retraction will occur if a published article is found to have major issues that undermine its scientific integrity, such as:

  • Plagiarism: If an article is found to contain plagiarized content, it will be retracted from the journal.

  • Data Fabrication or Falsification: If there is evidence that the data in an article has been fabricated or falsified, the article will be retracted.

  • Redundant Publication: If an article has been published elsewhere without appropriate disclosure or permission, it will be retracted.

  • Major Ethical Violations: Any violation of ethical standards in the conduct of the research (such as non-compliance with ethical approval for studies involving human or animal subjects) will result in retraction.

Procedure for Retraction:

  • If the issue is identified after publication, the editorial board will conduct an investigation to assess the severity of the problem.

  • If the article is found to have serious ethical, scientific, or methodological issues, a Retraction Notice will be published.

  • The notice will be linked to the original article, and it will include an explanation of why the article was retracted. The retraction notice will be clearly visible to readers.

3. Withdrawal of Articles

If an article has been accepted for publication but has not yet been published online, and there is a significant issue with the manuscript (e.g., the authors request withdrawal due to errors or unethical conduct), the article may be withdrawn.

  • Withdrawal Request: Authors must request withdrawal and provide valid reasons for doing so. The editorial board will assess the request.

  • Once the article is withdrawn, it will be removed from the journal's submission system, and no further action will be taken.

4. Post-Retraction

  • Access to Retraction: After retraction, the article remains accessible to readers but will be marked as "retracted" to indicate that it is no longer considered valid research.

  • Citations: If the retracted article has been cited by other works, the retraction notice will be added to the citation list to alert future readers of the issue. Authors of the citing works will also be encouraged to include the retraction notice in their references.

5. Transparency and Integrity

  • The process of retraction or correction will always be carried out transparently. Both corrections and retractions are issued promptly to maintain the scientific integrity of the journal and ensure that readers are informed of any changes to the published record.

  • SATUKATA upholds the principle that scientific knowledge is based on integrity, and as such, any published work that fails to meet this standard will be corrected or retracted as soon as the issue is identified.

6. Appeals

  • Authors who believe their article was retracted in error can appeal the decision to the editorial board. The appeal will be reviewed, and a final decision will be made based on the evidence available. If necessary, a formal investigation will be conducted.

By maintaining a clear Retraction & Correction Policy, SATUKATA ensures that the journal upholds the highest standards of scientific publishing integrity. The journal remains committed to transparency in all decisions related to the correction, retraction, or withdrawal of articles.
