Author Guidelines

SATUKATA: Jurnal Sains, Teknik, dan Studi Kemasyarakatan (Journal of Science, Engineering, and Society) welcomes the submission of high-quality research articles, reviews, and studies within the fields of science, engineering, and society. Authors are requested to follow the guidelines below to ensure smooth submission and review processes:

1. General Information

  • All submissions should be original and not under consideration for publication elsewhere.

  • Manuscripts should be submitted in both Indonesian and English (if possible). If submitted in one language, a detailed abstract and keywords in both languages must be provided.

  • Manuscripts must be submitted online through the journal’s submission system.

  • All submissions will undergo a peer review process.

2. Manuscript Structure

The manuscript should be organized as follows:

  1. Title: A concise and informative title (both in Indonesian and English).

  2. Abstract: A clear, concise abstract (maximum 250 words) in both languages, highlighting the aim, methods, results, and conclusions of the research.

  3. Keywords: 4-6 keywords in both languages, related to the content of the manuscript.

  4. Introduction: A detailed introduction to the topic, including the research problem, literature review, and objectives of the study.

  5. Methods: A clear explanation of the methods, research design, data collection, and analysis techniques used in the study.

  6. Results: A presentation of the findings, supported by relevant data, tables, or figures.

  7. Discussion: An interpretation of the results in relation to existing literature, outlining the significance of the findings.

  8. Conclusion: A brief summary of the main findings, implications, and possible areas for further research.

  9. Acknowledgments: Recognition of people or institutions that contributed to the research.

  10. References: A list of references following the Vancouver Style (for citations and references). Authors must ensure that all cited works are listed, and vice versa.

3. Formatting

  • Manuscripts should be typed in Times New Roman, 12 pt, with 1.5 line spacing.

  • Margins should be set to 1 inch (2.54 cm) on all sides.

  • The manuscript should be submitted in .docx or .rtf format.

  • Use headings (1, 2, and 3 levels) for organization. Do not use bold for section titles, only for subheadings within the sections.

  • Figures and tables should be placed within the manuscript, after the paragraph where they are first referenced. Each figure and table should be numbered sequentially and accompanied by a descriptive title.

4. Figures and Tables

  • Figures should be clear and of high resolution (at least 300 dpi).

  • Tables should be simple, readable, and accompanied by a title.

  • Legends should be provided for all figures.

  • References to figures and tables should be made in the body text (e.g., Figure 1, Table 2).

5. References

  • Use the Vancouver citation style for all references.

  • Ensure that all references cited in the text are listed in the reference section and vice versa.

  • Articles should cite a minimum of 15 references, of which at least 50% must be from sources published in the last five years.

6. Ethical Considerations

  • Authors must ensure that their research complies with ethical standards in research and publication.

  • Authors should provide information on any potential conflicts of interest.

  • Plagiarism, self-plagiarism, and any unethical practices in the research will result in immediate rejection.

7. Submission Process

  • Authors should submit their manuscripts online through the journal’s submission system.

  • Upon submission, authors will receive an acknowledgment email confirming receipt of their manuscript.

  • The manuscript will be initially screened for plagiarism and then sent to peer reviewers.

  • Authors will receive feedback and, if necessary, requests for revisions.

8. Review and Publication

  • Manuscripts will undergo a peer review process by experts in the field.

  • Authors are required to make any revisions suggested by reviewers and submit a revised version.

  • After acceptance, the manuscript will be published in one of the upcoming issues of the journal.

9. Copyright

  • Upon acceptance, authors must sign a copyright agreement that transfers the copyright to SATUKATA: Jurnal Sains, Teknik, dan Studi Kemasyarakatan.

10. Publication Fees

  • There are no submission or publication fees for authors.
