Peer Review Process

The peer review process for SATUKATA: Jurnal Sains, Teknik, dan Studi Kemasyarakatan (Journal of Science, Engineering, and Society) is designed to ensure the quality, credibility, and academic rigor of the published articles. The process is as follows:

1. Initial Submission

  • After an author submits a manuscript to the journal, the editorial team performs an initial review to ensure the manuscript fits within the journal’s scope and adheres to the submission guidelines.

  • If the manuscript meets the basic requirements, it is assigned to the relevant subject area editor for further evaluation.

2. Peer Review Assignment

  • The manuscript is then sent to two or more independent reviewers who are experts in the subject area of the manuscript. Reviewers are selected based on their expertise, research experience, and impartiality.

  • The review process is double-blind, meaning that both the author and the reviewers remain anonymous to each other. This ensures an unbiased review.

3. Review Criteria

Reviewers are asked to evaluate the following aspects of the manuscript:

  • Originality: Is the manuscript original and novel in its contribution to the field? Does it offer new insights, theories, or findings?

  • Relevance: Does the manuscript fit within the scope of the journal? Is the research relevant to the journal’s audience in science, engineering, and society?

  • Reviewers can recommend one of the following outcomes:

    • Minor Revisions: The manuscript requires small revisions that can be made without significant changes to the content.

    • Major Revisions: The manuscript requires substantial changes to improve clarity, methodology, or data analysis.

    • Reject: The manuscript is not suitable for publication, either due to lack of originality, poor methodology, or irrelevance to the field.

5. Author’s Response and Revision

  • Based on the feedback from the peer reviewers, the author is required to revise the manuscript and resubmit it. The author should address each of the reviewer’s comments and provide a clear explanation of how the revisions were made.

  • If the author disagrees with a reviewer’s comment, they should justify their reasoning in a response letter.

6. Final Decision

  • After the revisions are submitted, the editor and reviewers assess the revised manuscript to ensure that all comments have been addressed.

  • If the manuscript is still in need of further improvement, it may undergo additional rounds of revision.

  • Once the manuscript meets the journal’s standards, the editor will make the final decision to accept or reject the manuscript.

7. Publication

  • If accepted, the manuscript proceeds to the production stage, where it is formatted for publication. The final version is then published in the next available issue of SATUKATA: Jurnal Sains, Teknik, dan Studi Kemasyarakatan.
