BANGUN KEKUATAN OTAK REMAJA: PEER SUPPORT SEBAGAI SENJATA MELAWAN BRAIN ROT

Fenomena brain rot atau penurunan fungsi otak akibat paparan informasi digital yang tidak terkontrol menjadi tantangan serius bagi kesehatan mental remaja di era digital. Penggunaan media sosial secara berlebihan, kecanduan gim daring, dan minimnya istirahat mental menyebabkan penurunan daya konsentrasi, memori, dan kemampuan berpikir kritis. Artikel ini melaporkan pelaksanaan program pengabdian masyarakat berbasis komunitas yang bertujuan untuk mencegah brain rot melalui edukasi, pelatihan pengelolaan media digital, dan pembentukan kelompok peer support pada remaja di kawasan urban. Metode yang digunakan mencakup survei awal untuk mengidentifikasi kebiasaan digital remaja, pelaksanaan edukasi dan diskusi kelompok tentang kesehatan mental dan strategi penggunaan teknologi yang sehat. Selain itu, pembentukan kelompok dukungan sebaya dilakukan untuk mendorong perubahan kebiasaan digital secara berkelanjutan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman peserta mengenai brain rot dan peningkatan kesadaran dampak media sosial. Program ini membuktikan bahwa dukungan sebaya berperan efektif dalam mengubah pola perilaku digital remaja dan menjaga kesehatan otak serta mental mereka. Intervensi berbasis komunitas dengan pendekatan peer support terbukti meningkatkan efektivitas program edukatif dalam mencegah dampak negatif digitalisasi. Kesimpulannya, peer support merupakan strategi penting yang dapat diintegrasikan ke dalam program pendidikan dan kesehatan masyarakat untuk membentuk generasi muda yang lebih sehat secara mental dan tangguh dalam menghadapi tantangan era digital.
