Employee productivity in local public agencies remains a critical issue, as it directly impacts the effectiveness and quality of public service delivery. At the West Bajeng District Office in Gowa Regency, indications of suboptimal productivity are evident in fluctuating attendance rates, limited work facilities, and the need for improved employee performance in carrying out administrative tasks and public services. Addressing these issues, this study answers two research questions: whether the work environment and work motivation influence employee productivity, both partially and simultaneously. The study employs a quantitative approach with an explanatory cross-sectional survey design. The research population comprises all 32 employees of the West Bajeng District Office, utilizing a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected primarily through structured questionnaires, supplemented by observation, interviews, and documentation. Analysis involved descriptive statistics, validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, partial t-tests, simultaneous F-tests, and the coefficient of determination. The results indicate that both the work environment and work motivation have a positive and significant influence on employee productivity. Individually, the work environment significantly affects employee productivity, while work motivation exerts a stronger and more significant influence. Simultaneously, both variables significantly impact employee productivity, with an adjusted R² value of 0.534, indicating that the model explains 53.4 percent of the variance in employee productivity. This study contributes academically to the public sector human resource management literature by presenting empirical evidence from a district-level government agency and demonstrating that work motivation is a more dominant predictor of employee productivity within this local public service context.
