Abstract
This study aims to systematically review the evolution and contemporary relevance of Porter’s Framework, which encompasses the Five Forces Model, Generic Strategies, and Value Chain Analysis, within the dynamics of digitalization, sustainability, and global interconnectivity. Using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, ten high-quality journal articles indexed by Scopus were analyzed to synthesize theoretical developments and empirical findings related to competitive advantage in the modern business landscape. The review reveals that Porter’s Framework remains conceptually robust but requires significant reinterpretation to stay relevant amid structural market shifts. The Five Forces Model has transformed from a qualitative analytical tool into a data-driven framework through the introduction of quantitative indicators such as Overall Competitiveness Efficiency. The Generic Strategies dimension has evolved toward hybrid strategic configurations that merge cost efficiency with digital differentiation. Meanwhile, the Value Chain concept has expanded into a circular and collaborative model driven by sustainability imperatives and blockchain technology. These findings indicate that competition in the modern era is shaped not only by industry structure but also by technological intelligence, knowledge integration, and inter-organizational collaboration. The study contributes to contemporary strategic management by redefining Porter’s theory as an adaptive epistemic model that bridges classic competitive analysis with the demands of a volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) business environment.
