Hypertension in older adults is a chronic health problem that can affect physical health, psychological well-being, and quality of life. Older adults with hypertension are at risk of psychological problems, including depression, particularly when accompanied by comorbidities, activity limitations, sleep disturbances, and limited social support. This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of health cadres in applying deep breathing relaxation techniques as a supportive approach for older adults with hypertension in Baktiya District, North Aceh Regency. The activity was conducted in October 2025 through health education, demonstration, direct practice, mentoring, and evaluation. The participants were 15 community health cadres from the working area of Baktiya Community Health Center. Cadres' knowledge was assessed before and after the activity, while their skills were evaluated through observation during practice. The results showed an increase in cadres with good knowledge from 9 (60%) at the pre-test to 12 (80%) at the post-test. Meanwhile, cadres with poor knowledge decreased from 6 (40%) to 3 (20%). During practice, the cadres were able to perform the steps of deep breathing relaxation and provide simple instructions to older adults. Education combined with demonstration and direct practice can improve cadres' readiness to assist older adults with hypertension. Sustainable implementation may support promotive and preventive efforts to improve the mental health and quality of life of older adults.
