Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

1. General Requirements

  1. Manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Islamic Economic Resources (JIER) must be original, have not been previously published, and are not under consideration for publication elsewhere.

  2. Manuscripts must align with the journal’s scope, focusing on Islamic economics, Islamic finance, and related fields.

  3. Articles must be written in English using clear, academic language.

  4. The manuscript must be submitted through the journal’s online submission system (OJS).

  5. All submitted manuscripts will undergo an initial screening and a double-blind peer-review process.

2. Manuscript Format

  1. Manuscripts should be prepared in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.

  2. Article length should be between 5,000–8,000 words, including references, tables, and figures.

  3. Use A4 paper size, with 1.15 line spacing, margins of 2.5 cm on all sides.

  4. Font:

    • Times New Roman, size 12 pt (body text)

    • 14 pt bold (title)

  5. All tables and figures must be numbered consecutively and placed within the text where appropriate.

3. Structure of the Manuscript

A standard manuscript should contain the following components:

a. Title Page

  • Article title (concise, specific, and informative)

  • Author(s) full name(s)

  • Affiliation(s)

  • Email address of corresponding author

  • ORCID ID (optional but recommended)

b. Abstract

  • 150–250 words

  • Structured using: Purpose, Method, Results, Conclusion

  • Include 3–5 keywords

c. Introduction

  • Background of the study

  • Research problem and objectives

  • Theoretical context and contribution of the study

d. Literature Review

  • Relevant theories and concepts

  • Previous studies related to the topic

e. Methodology

  • Research design

  • Data sources

  • Sampling techniques

  • Data analysis methods

f. Results and Discussion

  • Clear presentation of findings

  • Interpretation and relation to existing literature

  • Tables and figures must be properly labeled and discussed

g. Conclusion

  • Summary of key findings

  • Implications for theory, practice, and future research

h. References

  • Must follow the APA Style 7th Edition

  • Use reference management tools such as Zotero, Mendeley, or EndNote

4. Citation and Referencing

  • Use APA 7th Edition for in-text citations and reference list.

  • Ensure that all sources cited in the text are included in the reference list and vice versa.

  • Priority should be given to recent journal articles (last 5–10 years).

5. Ethical Considerations

  • Manuscripts must be free from academic misconduct, including plagiarism, fabrication, and falsification.

  • All submissions will be checked using plagiarism detection software.

  • The similarity index should not exceed 20% (excluding references and quotations).

  • Authors must disclose any potential conflict of interest.

6. Review Process

  1. Initial editorial screening (scope, structure, formatting, and plagiarism check).

  2. Double-blind peer review by at least two reviewers.

  3. Revision by the author (if required).

  4. Final decision by the editorial team.

7. Publication Fee

  • Journal of Islamic Economic Resources (JIER) does not charge any publication fees.

    • Article Submission Fee: Rp 0

    • Article Processing Charge (APC): Rp 0

    • Publication Fee: Rp 0

    The journal is fully open access and provides free access to all published articles. Authors are not required to pay any fees at any stage of the publication process, including submission, peer review, editing, or online publication.

    This policy reflects the journal’s commitment to supporting academic dissemination without financial barriers.

8. Copyright and Licensing

  • Authors retain copyright but grant the journal the right of first publication.

  • Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY-4.0) unless specified otherwise.
