Abstract

According to the philosophical concept of three faces, every human being has three faces: the face shown to the public, the face shown to close friends and family, and the face shown only to oneself. This concept is interesting as a basis for creating paintings because most people only use the front of the canvas and ignore the back, even though the back of the canvas can also be part of a work of art. This creation aims to explain how the three faces concept can be applied in paintings and to explain the results of exploring painting on both sides of the canvas with a see-through visual effect using acrylic paint. Data collection for this creation used a personal experimental method or practice-led research, which was carried out by collecting data through a literature study of several journals and articles scattered across the internet, as well as direct testing activities. The results obtained from this creation are that the three faces concept can be an interesting concept for a painting because it is relevant to many people, and the back of the canvas that is painted can provide a unique effect on the front when supported by external lighting. With this creation, it is hoped that the public can have an emotional connection and develop a desire to explore more when creating artwork for the artists.
