https://publish.ojs-indonesia.com/index.php/SIBATIK/article/view/3772

This research aimed to investigate the effect of the Problem Based Learning model integrated with the Let's Read application on students' reading comprehension of narrative texts at SMA Swasta Teladan Pematangsiantar. The research employed a quasi-experimental quantitative design with a non-equivalent, involving class X-5 as the experimental group and class X-3 as the control group, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed with SPSS 22. The result of the analysis used a one-tailed test showed that the calculated t-value (2.452) was greater than the t-table value (1.666). Since t-count > t-table, H ₀ was rejected and H ₐ was accepted. This result indicated that the Problem Based Learning model integrated Let's Read application had a positive and significant effect on students' reading comprehension of narrative texts. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Problem Based Learning model integrated Let's Read application is effective and can be applied as an alternative model in teaching reading comprehension skills.
Dinda Widya NingrumDumaris E SilalahiAnita Sitanggang

https://publish.ojs-indonesia.com/index.php/SIBATIK/article/view/3734

The initial problem observed in PAUD Cibeureum (Group A) was the low habit of courteous speech: at pre-cycle, 12 of 14 children (86%) were in BB, 1 child (7%) in MB, 1 child (7%) in BSH, and none in BSB. Expressions of “please, sorry, thank you, and excuse me” typically appeared only after teacher prompting. This study aimed to foster the habit of using these four “magic words” and to describe behavioral change across cycles. A two-cycle Classroom Action Research design involved 14 children aged 4–5. Data were collected through observation aligned with national early-childhood standards (STPPA; categories BB–MB–BSH–BSB), interviews with teachers and parents/guardians for source triangulation, and documentation; analysis was qualitative. Results show meaningful shifts: the proportion in BSH+BSB rose from 7% (pre-cycle) to 71% (Cycle I) and ~99% (Cycle II), while MB+BB declined from 93% to 28% and then 0%. Behaviors moved from prompt-dependent to spontaneous, indicating internalization of the habit, consistent with moral development frameworks and prior findings on the effectiveness of courteous-language habituation in early childhood settings. In conclusion, a simple intervention package consistent teacher modeling, role-play, visual cues, positive reinforcement, and parent involvement effectively improved courteous speech and exceeded the success criterion (≥75% of children in BSH/BSB).
Siti KhodijahAsep Dudin Abdul LatifYogha Zulvian Iskandar

This study explores the application of Contingency Theory in managerial decision-making across various organizational contexts. Contingency Theory posits that there is no universal method for decision-making, and organizational structures and decisions should be aligned with the specific internal and external factors they face. This paper reviews the theory's influence on leadership, organizational structure, and managerial practices, with a focus on flexibility and adaptation to dynamic environments such as market uncertainty, technology, and regulatory changes. The study uses a systematic literature review (SLR) methodology to analyze key articles and seminal works by scholars like Fiedler and Donaldson, offering insights into the practical applications of Contingency Theory in sectors like healthcare, digital transformation, and project management. Findings highlight the importance of adaptive leadership and the need for organizations to modify their strategies based on contextual factors, particularly in the face of external disruptions. However, the paper also critiques the theory’s lack of specificity in addressing internal organizational factors and its challenges in practical application. The results underscore the need for further research into how organizations can integrate both internal dynamics and external contingencies for more effective decision-making. This review contributes to a better understanding of how Contingency Theory can guide managerial practices in unpredictable and rapidly changing environments.
Wanda NovitaDavid RozaNanang Suryadi

This study aims to systematically review the evolution and contemporary relevance of Porter’s Framework, which encompasses the Five Forces Model, Generic Strategies, and Value Chain Analysis, within the dynamics of digitalization, sustainability, and global interconnectivity. Using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, ten high-quality journal articles indexed by Scopus were analyzed to synthesize theoretical developments and empirical findings related to competitive advantage in the modern business landscape. The review reveals that Porter’s Framework remains conceptually robust but requires significant reinterpretation to stay relevant amid structural market shifts. The Five Forces Model has transformed from a qualitative analytical tool into a data-driven framework through the introduction of quantitative indicators such as Overall Competitiveness Efficiency. The Generic Strategies dimension has evolved toward hybrid strategic configurations that merge cost efficiency with digital differentiation. Meanwhile, the Value Chain concept has expanded into a circular and collaborative model driven by sustainability imperatives and blockchain technology. These findings indicate that competition in the modern era is shaped not only by industry structure but also by technological intelligence, knowledge integration, and inter-organizational collaboration. The study contributes to contemporary strategic management by redefining Porter’s theory as an adaptive epistemic model that bridges classic competitive analysis with the demands of a volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) business environment.
Arif Qasimi Al BoneFani Ahmad Fauzi

Life insurance in Indonesia, as a non-bank financial institution, primarily aims to provide protection to the public. However, public understanding and trust in life insurance remain low. One of the main challenges is the lack of awareness regarding the benefits and claims process. This study aims to analyze how claims services and benefits paid by life insurance companies affect the growth of the insurance business in Indonesia, particularly from 2020 to 2022. The research uses descriptive analysis with statistical data sourced from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) from January 2020 to March 2023. The results show that the COVID-19 pandemic, which began in February 2020, led to an increase in claims and benefits paid by life insurance companies, although profits declined during the first few months. However, in 2021 and 2022, the life insurance industry showed significant recovery, with increased claims payments and profits, reflecting improved claims services and growing public awareness of the importance of life insurance. This study suggests that life insurance companies should continue to enhance transparency and efficiency in the claims process to maintain public trust and foster the future growth of the life insurance business.
Dedy Sunaryo Nainggolan

The industrial sector is a key driver of economic development through job creation, increased productivity, and strengthened exports. This study aims to analyze the industrial sector's contribution to economic development by emphasizing the determinants of success and their implications for industrial management. The method used is a qualitative approach with a literature review enriched by descriptive-comparative quantitative data based on secondary data from the Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) and World Bank publications for the 2015–2024 period. The analysis compares Indonesia's industrial performance with that of other Asian countries, such as China, Japan, Malaysia, and Vietnam. The results show that the industrial sector consistently contributes significantly to national GDP, exports, and productivity, despite Indonesia facing early deindustrialization. Key influencing factors are physical capital and human capital, the quality of institutions and policies, and digital transformation. The novelty of this study lies in the presentation of recent cross-country empirical evidence that emphasizes the importance of adaptive industrial management strategies for digitalization and global market integration.
Eva SafariyaniEndang Taufiqurahman

The research was motivated by the low symbolic thinking ability of children at TK Sejahtera Jatisari, with an initial pre-cycle average score of only 59.3% (low category). This study aims to improve early childhood symbolic thinking skills, particularly in recognizing letters and numbers, through the implementation of the interactive learning media Wordwall. The study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects were 10 Group A children (4 girls and 6 boys) aged 4–5 years. Data were collected through observation, interviews, field notes, and documentation, and analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The results showed a significant improvement in children’s ability to recognize letters and numbers after using Wordwall. In cycle I, the average ability increased to 60% (medium category), and in cycle II, it further increased to 79% (good category), exceeding the success indicator of 75%. Learning activities utilizing Wordwall features such as Matching Pairs, Open The Box, Anagram, and Group Sort successfully created an engaging, interactive, and motivating learning environment, encouraging children to actively engage in recognizing letter and number symbols. In conclusion, Wordwall is proven effective as a learning medium to enhance symbolic thinking skills in early childhood.
Cuciatun CuciatunRini Novianti YusufSiti Nur Fakhriyah

https://publish.ojs-indonesia.com/index.php/SIBATIK/article/view/3715

This study investigates how ideology is linguistically encoded in English and Mandarin texts through a comparative critical discourse analysis (CDA) framework. Drawing upon corpus-assisted methods and grounded in Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL), the research analyzes how each language reflects its underlying epistemological and cultural orientations in discourse. The English corpus—comprising news articles, editorials, and academic texts from Anglophone sources such as The Guardian and BBC is compared with a Mandarin corpus consisting of parallel genres from 人民日报 (People’s Daily), 新华网 (XinhuaNet), and Chinese university materials. Findings reveal that English discourse predominantly encodes ideology through explicit agency, critical reasoning, and dialogic openness, reflecting values of individualism, rationality, and democratic participation. Mandarin discourse, by contrast, constructs ideology through collective framing, agentless constructions, and evaluative affirmation, embodying Confucian principles of harmony, moral order, and social cohesion. Differences in transitivity, modality, and metaphor demonstrate distinct cultural epistemologies English emphasizing critique and change, while Mandarin emphasizes stability and unity. The study contributes to the interdisciplinary dialogue among CDA, SFL, and intercultural pragmatics by extending the analytical scope of CDA beyond Anglophone contexts. It argues that ideological encoding operates not only at the macro-political level but also within micro-linguistic choices that shape meaning and perception across cultures. The findings have pedagogical implications for intercultural communication, translation studies, and discourse pedagogy, underscoring the importance of ideological awareness in global communication
Devi Alvionita AlindraJumino SuhadiDevi Pratiwy

https://publish.ojs-indonesia.com/index.php/SIBATIK/article/view/3705

This systematic review examines how organizations enhance performance across digital transformation, sustainable operations, international marketing, technology-based SMEs, and innovation commercialization. Using the “resources–capabilities–priorities” framework and the concept of strategic flexibility, the study highlights the central role of dynamic capabilities (DC)—sensing, seizing, and transforming—in developing derived capabilities such as commercialization capability, competitive agility, organizational learning, and data-driven culture. The review shows that DC mediates the impact of international diversification on innovation by enabling firms to identify and exploit opportunities. In sustainability, AI-enabled DC improves environmental performance, with data-driven culture acting as a context-dependent mediator. Green dynamic capability, supported by environmental regulation and corporate environmental ethics, further promotes responsible innovation and green strategies. In SMEs, diverse TMT functional backgrounds strengthen performance through enhanced DC, particularly under dynamic business environments. In big data contexts, resource management processes integrated with DC address limitations of purely resource-based views. The review proposes an integrative model linking strategic priorities, DC, and multidimensional organizational outcomes—innovation, commercialization, environmental performance, and SME growth. Practical contributions include a DC audit framework and a sensing–seizing–transforming implementation roadmap. Limitations relate to citation accessibility and effect-size heterogeneity, indicating opportunities for longitudinal and cross-industry research.
Firdaus FirdausSuciati DewiNanang Suryadi
