Abstract
The development of online motorcycle taxi services in Indonesia has given birth to a digital work system based on algorithmic management. This system functions to regulate the distribution of orders, assessments, incentives, and monitoring of driver performance automatically using an application. This study aims to investigate the relationship between algorithmic management and the level of job satisfaction of online motorcycle taxi drivers from Generation Z in Indonesia using a literature research approach. The method used in this study is qualitative with a literature review technique of national and international journals published between 2020 and 2025. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of algorithm-based management has positive impacts, such as flexibility in work, easy access to work, and increased efficiency in digital platform operations. However, the algorithmic system also presents digital work pressures originating from the assessment system, performance targets, fluctuating prices, and real-time supervision that can reduce worker autonomy and increase uncertainty in income. The findings of this study indicate a duality in the implementation of algorithmic management, namely as a system that is able to increase efficiency but also becomes a source of pressure for online motorcycle taxi drivers from Generation Z. The novelty of this study lies in the development of an Algorithmic Strain Model to describe the relationship between algorithm efficiency and job satisfaction in the gig economy ecosystem in Indonesia.
